Proficient in Audacity, Soundslides, Photoshop, FinalCut and basic HTML and CSS.
Familiar with a variety of video and audio equipment.
Experience uploading content and modifying content and design via website back-ends

Tombstone Epitaph – Jan. 2009 to May 2009
Online & multimedia editor
• As the first online and multimedia editor, organized and implemented a system for reporters to post their own reporting online. Duties included teaching reporters how to create multimedia elements for their stories, including audio clips, video and slideshows.
• Assisted the editor-in-chief with production duties, including copyediting, planning layout and working with reporters to get the best version of their stories in by deadline.
• Strove to create an online product that was separate from but complementary to the print edition.

Arizona Daily Wildcat – Aug. 2008 to May 2009
Online & multimedia editor, illustrator
• Worked closely with all sections in the newsroom to produce audio clips, videos, podcasts, slideshows and other multimedia content for Dailywildcat.com.
• Selected and managed a team of webmasters, videographers, on-camera reporters and podcasters.
• Created illustrations for print editions, manually and electronically.
• Along with the editor in chief, negotiated content-sharing with UATV (U of A’s student television station)
• Assumed position of online editor in Feb. 2009, when former online editor resigned.

Wrote event previews and general news stories, fact-checked restaurant listings, copyedited and took photographs. Contributed to local campaign blog ScrambleWatch08, run by Tucson Weekly reporter and UA adjunct faculty member Jim Nintzel.

Produced all illustrations for print in the monthly magazine and contributed to content planning.

RESEARCH
Conducted a group research project to determine the effectiveness of the University of Arizona’s journalism program in inspiring students to pursue a career in journalism. The study was used by journalism Professor Shahira Fahmy and the School of Journalism’s accreditation board to support the effectiveness of the journalism program. Pending publication.
